Sue Bierman Playground Vandalism Repairs

Completed and Open to the Public April 6, 2023!

Background

A fire at Sue Bierman Playground in October 2021 resulted in damage to the park’s play structure. The damage mainly impacted the boat structure and parts of the safety surfacing. The need for construction work provided an opportunity to replace the rubber safety surface for the entire playground with new safety surface turf.

In planning the repair work, Rec and Park engaged the original architects and landed upon a replacement for the KOMPAN play structure designed with feedback from community members.

We’re excited to share that Sue Bierman Playground reopened in April 2023 after the installation of a beautiful new play structure and surface.
