Richmond Playground

Scope of Work

Bear play structure and boulder play structure at playground reopening August 2024

The project included upgrades and accessibility improvements to the public restrooms, accessibility improvements at park entrances, placemaking improvements with new planting, paving, seating and other furnishings, and a complete renovation of the children’s play area with new surfacing and equipment for both the toddler and school aged children’s play areas at Richmond Playground.

Background

The renovation of the children’s play area at Richmond Playground is part of the Let’sPlaySF! Initiative , a partnership between the Recreation and Park Department and the San Francisco Parks Alliance that seeks to inspire creativity and play throughout the City. 13 playgrounds, prioritized for improvement by a citizen task force, will be re-imagined and redesigned for this and future generations of San Francisco’s children.

Funding

Funding for this project comes from multiple sources, including:

$2,106,642 – RPD 2012 Bond, Let’sPlaySF!

$639,886 – General Fund

$28,471 – Open Space Fund

$700,000 – In Kind Grants from SF Parks Alliance

Total Sources: $3,475,000

The construction contract award for this project was approved by Recreation and Parks Commission on July 20, 2023 ( PDF ). This construction contract award obtained and complies with all city, state, and federal regulatory approvals, including any that are specific to this project’s funding sources.
