Randall Museum Renovation Project

Completed and Opened to the Public February 11, 2018!

Description

Randall Museum

The renovation project consists of new geology and zoology exhibits, a new science lab, a new elevator, as well as the renovation of the live animal exhibit, classroom, restrooms, first floor lobby, and concession area. Sustainable design techniques were implemented as per the grant requirements.

Grant funding was also used to seismically upgrade those portions of the facility and bring them up to ADA standards. The interior renovation included the consolidation and rearrangement of interior rooms and ADA compliance measures. A concession area was added to allow visitors to extend their stay at the facility. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical, including low voltage systems, were modernized. Interior equipment, materials and finishes were upgraded.

Funding

This project is funded by a grant from the California State Parks, Nature Education Facilities Program ($5,477,193) and an in-kind gift from the Randall Museum Friends ($130,000).
