Mount Davidson Trails Improvement Project
Completed and Opened to the Public!
Background
Mount Davidson, much of which is covered by urban forest, has some of San Francisco’s best examples of WPA -era rock stairs and retaining walls. Unfortunately, they had been damaged by falling trees and limbs, and by tree root growth.
Scope of Work
The Urban Trails Program relied on experts to make repairs. The project realigned short segments of trails that were steep and narrow to improve safety and reduce erosion. Trail signs were installed at trail heads and junctions.
