McLaren Park - Bike Park Project

Completed and Open to the Public October 21, 2017!

Description

We are excited to announce that the McLaren Bike Park Project is now complete! Construction began in April 2017. The design includes:

  • A beginner bicycle skills trail loop with ramp features
  • Benches
  • Picnic tables
  • A porta-potty
  • A toolshed
  • A youth BMX/MTB dirt pumptrack

Funding

The project’s construction budget is approximately $650,000. The overall project is being funded from a variety of sources including the following:

  • 2008 Clean and Safe
  • 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond, Citywide Parks Program McLaren Park
  • Jumping Fences
  • Land and Water Conservation Fund
  • Neighborhood Parks Bond, Community Opportunity Fund Program
  • Supervisor Avalos’s Office

Additionally, the McLaren Bike Park Founders are funding design services and other soft costs associated with the project. The McLaren Bike Park Founders raised money through grass roots fundraisers and the following sources:

  • The Hellman Foundation
  • The Mary A. Crocker Trust
  • Mr. and Mrs. Greg and Caroline Gretsch

The San Francisco Parks Alliance is the fiscal non-profit sponsor for the McLaren Bike Park Founders. Rec Park wants to thank the Founders for all their hard work and dedication to this project! To learn more about the Founders see their website .
