Margaret S. Hayward Playground Improvement Project

Completed and Opened to the Public November 2020!

Scope of Work

Margaret Hayward Orange net and tube structure Playground and  glass Building

The project included renovation and/or consolidation of park structures including:

  • Improved park access;

  • Recreational buildings, storage, and restrooms;

  • Replacement of:

  • Children’s play area;

  • New clubhouse;

  • Playfields;

  • Related amenities; and

  • Sport courts.

Funding

Totaling $ 28,532,983 , the project was funded by the following:

  • 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhoods Parks Bond at $ 14,004,534;
  • Market and Octavia Community Improvements Fund at $7.984 million;
  • Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at $1.3 million;
  • State Housing Related Parks Grant at $ 2,112,082;
  • Open Space Funds $2,947,464;
  • Department of Emergency Management $83,601;
  • SF Public Works (sewer & paving project) $ 38,500;
  • SF Public Utilities Commission $ 43,912; and
  • General Fund (SFAC transfer, Francisco Reservoir) $18,890.
