Jose Coronado Playground
Background
Jose Coronado Playground is located at Folsom Street and 21st Street, in San Francisco’s Mission District. The park consists of a children’s playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a clubhouse.
Scope of Work
This project focused on improving the children’s play area at Jose Coronado Playground and included new rubber safety surfacing, benches, a trash enclosure and planter fences. The old play area tiles were replaced with new rubber safety surfacing, featuring colorful designs that relate to the mural on the existing clubhouse. Four new benches create seating areas within the children’s play area. A new trash enclosure provides a permanent place for refuse and reduce litter at the park. Small decorative fences at the raised planter beds protect the landscaping and allow for more vegetation to be planted.
Funding Source
Funding for this project comes from Round 3 of the Community Opportunity Fund 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.
