Completed and Opened to the Public Fall 2020!
Description
The eastern edge of Golden Gate Park was in need of improvements; the goal of the project was to make improvements to pedestrian access and circulation while trying to activate the area with positive park-related activities. The project goal also included making improvements to various landscape areas so that they are more inviting to visitors while protecting this beautiful landscape.
Scope of Work
This project was focused on making improvements to various areas on the Stanyan Street Frontage in Golden Gate Park. The areas of focus included renovating the Stanyan Street entry plaza, adding a new pedestrian sidewalk between Haight Street and JFK Drive, making landscape improvements in the oak woodlands area south of the lake and improvements to the existing restroom building and converting this space to a functioning kiosk which is now occupied by local business Flywheel Coffee..
Funding Source
This project was funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.
The construction contract award for this project was approved by Recreation and Parks Commission on May 1, 2019 ( PDF ). This construction contract award obtained and complies with all city, state, and federal regulatory approvals, including any that are specific to this project’s funding sources.
