Glen Canyon Park Recreation Center

Background

Glen Canyon Recreation Center

Glen Canyon Park is located off of O’Shaugnessy Boulevard and Elk Street. The approximately 67-acre park offers visitors:

  • A children’s play area
  • Hiking trails, open space, and creek
  • A picnic area
  • A recreation center, including a gymnasium, auditorium, offices, and related amenities
  • Two baseball fields
  • Two tennis courts
  • A two-story Silver Tree Day Camp building

Scope of Work

The project included renovations of the existing recreation center to provide an additional 4,500 square feet of multi-purpose space, gymnasium seating, climbing wall and related amenities.

Funding

This project was funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond at $12 million dollars.

The construction contract award for this project was approved by Recreation and Parks Commission on August 5, 2015 ( PDF ). This construction contract award obtained and complies with all city, state, and federal regulatory approvals, including any that are specific to this project’s funding sources.
