Background

Trocadero Clubhouse in Sigmund Stern Grove, a San Francisco Historical Landmark, was severely damaged in March 2023 when a storm toppled an 85-foot eucalyptus tree, partially crushing the clubhouse roof and triggering a deluge from its interior sprinkler system.

Scope of Work

This project’s work included extensive restoration of the Trocadero to its historic condition, replacement of the roof, rafters, eave, cupola, framing, windows, walls, finishes, wood molding, floors, and lights, while salvaging as much original material as possible or replicating to match original detailing.

Funding

The $2.5 million project was funded through Rec and Park’s general fund and through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
