Kimbell Athletic Field Renovation
Background
Back in 2010, the Department in partnership with the City Fields Foundation renovated the old athletic fields by installing new field drainage, synthetic turf fencing and sports field lighting.
Scope of Work
The synthetic turf on these fields is over 14 years old and at the end of its useful life. This project will replace field turf with new material that utilizes natural infill. All of the old turf will be removed and recycled. Additional improvements will include replacing the chain link fence fabric, minor ADA improvements around the site and new site furniture such as bleachers, benches, signs, and trash receptacle.
This project is part of the Park Playfield Repairs and Reconstruction Program .
Cost
Approximately $3 million.
Funding
Recreation and Parks Department General Fund and the City Fields Foundation Grant.
