Golden Gate Park - Senior Center Outdoor Recreation Area

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), updated December 2024

Scope of Work

GGP-Senior Center aerial view of project area

This project will create an outdoor recreation space adjacent to the Senior Center to support and increase capacity for group fitness activities.

Background

We have an exciting opportunity in the outdoor area near the Golden Gate Park Senior Center. Through funding and support from the 2020 Parks Bond and the Board of Supervisors, Rec and Park will begin planning for an outdoor recreation area located on the rear lawn behind the existing Senior Center.

With a flexible outdoor recreation area, we can continue to support more of Senior Center’s most popular fitness activities, including dance, Tai Chi, yoga, and Zumba to passive activities like crafts and workshops.

We are beginning community engagement around the design of this space in late Summer 2024.

Funding

This project will be funded by 2020 Health and Recovery Bond and the Board of Supervisors.
