A federal court found that some of the existing features in the Garden, including some pathways, restrooms, and access points, were not in full compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). The court issued an order for Rec & Park to fix these issues by late 2025.

Scope of Work: Pathways Barrier Removal

This project will ensure that all ADA-designated paths of travel within the Botanical Garden are fully compliant with current regulations.

Work will include re-configuring access points at the north side entrance; demolishing, adjusting the grade, and paving select sections of 13 pathways; and adding new ramps and handrails.

Scope of Work: Restroom Improvements

The restrooms at Great Meadow will be remodeled in summer 2025 to ensure full ADA compliance.

Restrooms at Great Meadow are currently closed. While the restrooms are closed, please use the portable toilets at the north side of Great Meadow or restrooms at the North Gate.

Scope of Work: Botanical Garden Bookstore Barrier Removal

Completed in October 2024 , this project constructed a ramp and handrails to ensure that the Botanical Garden Bookstore complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
