In order to meet the growing need for open space in San Francisco, Recreation and Parks Department ( RPD ) continues to acquire new parks. With the help of the voter-approved Proposition C: the Open Space Fund, RPD has added new park land over the past decade. Park acquisitions can be accomplished in several ways:
Through the Open Space Acquisition Fund
With Development Impact fees paid by new developments
Private donation
Transfer of land from another City department
And more
