About this Facility
Tenderloi n Children’s Play Area, located in the heart of the Tenderloin Equity Zone, is one of San Francisco’s most kid-friendly recreation facilities. Serving the neighborhood’s large and diverse youth population, the recreation center and adjacent playground offer a wide range of fun, engaging programs and activities in a welcoming outdoor environment that incorporates natural elements, trees, and planting areas to bring nature into the heart of the city.
The site features a play area, Nature Exploration Area (NEA), soccer pitch, outdoor basketball hoop, tricycle and scooter track, and seating areas with picnic tables designed for play, gathering, and community connection.
This site is dedicated exclusively to children and youth. Adults must be accompanied by a child, and children ages 7 and under must be closely supervised by their accompanying adult at all times. No adults without children are allowed .

SOCCER FRIDAYS - Year-round. Drop-ins welcome!

Girls NIGHT FRIDAYS - Activity rotations: Indoor soccer, volleyball, roller skating, and kickball
- All Ages! Mothers are welcome to join the fun!
- Time: 5 pm – 8 pm
UP ON TOP - An independent neighborhood non-profit, provides fully-inclusive after-school and summer programs at the Tenderloin Recreation Center for K-5th grade students from low-income families in the Tenderloin community.
