Pardon Our Mess construction notice sign

The playground at Eureka Valley Recreation Center will begin a resurfacing project on April 13 that will remove and replace the existing safety surfaces. Work is anticipated to be completed by late July 2026.

About this Facility

Rain or shine, neighbors gather here for indoor and outdoor exercise. In wet weather, stay dry in the full workout gym and children’s activity center. When the sun shines or the fog rolls in, enjoy the playground and ball fields.

A silver-colored plaque is located on the south end of the Eureka Valley Playground, dedicated to Rikki Streicher, one of the founders of the Gay Olympics. The softball field was renamed in her honor, and the plaque was dedicated on December 15, 1996.

The Recreation and Park Commission also approved naming the Eureka Valley Recreation Center gymnasium in honor of Mark Bingham in 2002. A simple plaque recognizes the story of United Airlines Flight 93, where all passengers, including Bingham, were killed on September 11, 2001. Bingham and fellow passengers helped thwart the hijackers’ plans and prevented the aircraft from reaching its intended target.

This facility offers drop-in programs including Women’s Full Court Basketball, 55 and Better Basketball, Basketball, Pickleball, Volleyball, and tot programs. Please contact the facility coordinator to confirm current open gym times.
