Recreation Facilities
Located throughout the city, our full-service recreation centers provide a wide array of registered and drop-in activities for visitors of all ages, including classes for tots, after school programs for youth, and dance and fitness classes for adults. They offer space for meetings, birthday parties and events, and act as vital community hubs for our neighbors. Recreation centers typically include gymnasiums, community rooms and outdoor recreation facilities, while our more specialized recreation sites include a science museum, art studios and a photography center featuring the oldest public darkroom in the United States.
Our free Play Pass card system is available for all of our recreation centers. The Play Pass card instantly checks you into our facilities with one simple swipe, giving you more time to exercise and play. It can attach to your keychain to keep your class registration and other information in a single, safe place.
Create your account online at our registration page and drop by one of our recreation centers or pools, where you will then show a photo ID to receive the Play Pass card. For more information, call our registration desk at (415) 831-6800.
Note that a Play Pass is not required to use our facilities, but it does offer incentives such as entry into raffles for Sky Star Wheel tickets. No one will be turned away for not having a Play Pass card.
