Archery Field
47th Avenue and Fulton | Map It
The archery field in Golden Gate Park is a wonderful gem for archers of all skill levels—from beginner to marksman. The field includes nine hay bales for shared use; archers should bring their own targets, bows and arrows. Use of the field is free and is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Basketball at the Panhandle
Fell and Clayton streets | Map It
The Nate Thurmond Basketball Courts at the Panhandle are some of the city’s most popular and iconic. The courts were resurfaced in 2016 through a partnership with the Golden State Warriors and The Good Tidings Foundation. They are named in honor of longtime Warriors player Nate Thurmond.
Beach Chalet Athletic Fields
John F. Kennedy Drive at the west end of the park | Map It
The popular Beach Chalet Athletic Fields complex includes synthetic turf and lights, tripling the amount of playtime annually. These fields accommodate a wide range of sports, including soccer, and save about six million gallons of water each year. Facility amenities, including picnic areas and a play structure, encourage a family-friendly environment.
Big Rec Baseball Fields
100 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive | Map It
Generations of youth baseball players have spent time on these fields, which host camps and youth league games throughout the year. The site is also home to the Bay Area Vintage Base Ball league, which plays under 1886 rules. Big Rec is available for rent through our Permits and Reservations division.
Disc Golf Course
Marx Meadow, off of JFK Drive | Map It
San Francisco’s first disc golf course is a tightly wooded 18-hole course fun for beginners and a challenge for experts. Players use an array of discs to aim for chain-linked baskets arranged throughout the course. The course was expanded to its permanent 18-hole layout in 2007.
Golden Gate Park Golf Course

This nine-hole, par-3 golf course provides players with a unique and memorable experience. With holes ranging from under 100 yards to 200 yards, it is ideal for beginners while offering a robust challenge for experienced players looking to refine their short game.
Handball/Racquetball Courts
Nancy Pelosi Drive near Big Rec | Map It
A hidden gem tucked away behind the Big Rec baseball diamonds, this site features two indoor and two outdoor courts. Use of these facilities is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must bring their own equipment.
Kezar Stadium and Pavilion
670 Kezar Drive | Map It
Historic Kezar Stadium was the original home of the San Francisco 49ers. Today, it hosts events ranging from school track meets to the annual Turkey Bowl. When not hosting events, the track is a popular site for runners. The adjacent Pavilion hosts basketball, roller derby, and boxing matches.

Polo Field

The Polo Field area consists of seven soccer pitches and a .67-mile cycle track used by everyday and advanced cyclists. A dirt track above is popular for runners and horseback riders. It is also home to the annual Outside Lands Music + Arts Festival.
Roller Skating

Skatin’ Place is a dedicated area for folks on skates or blades. Particularly on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, the music is pumping and a community of skaters gathers to meet friends and groove to the beats. It’s a uniquely San Francisco scene that is even more fun to join than it is to watch.
Running/Jogging
Locations vary
Golden Gate Park offers miles of roadways and trails. Runners can choose from a 7.4-mile loop around the park perimeter or a popular 4.5-mile trail loop on the west end. Both Kezar Stadium and the Polo Field feature dedicated tracks for workouts.
Tennis at the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Tennis Center
Nancy Pelosi Drive and Bowling Green Dr. | Map It
The renovated tennis center is one of the best public facilities in the nation, featuring 16 rebuilt courts, a dedicated pickleball court, and a new clubhouse. It is also home to the Tennis and Learning Center youth program. Court reservations can be made online or by phone.

We offer four locations for pick-up and impromptu games: Bunny Meadow, Peacock Meadow, Robin Williams Meadow, and the fields north of Big Rec. It is a great way to enjoy the park and stay active.
Zion Skate Plaza (Waller Street Skate Park)

Kickflips, ollies, and backside 180s abound at this dedicated spot for skateboarders. Whether you are a seasoned boarder or a beginner looking to perfect your skills, this plaza offers plenty of room to practice.
