Getting to the Music Concourse
Getting to the Music Concourse (de Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Japanese Tea Garden and the Golden Gate Park Observation Wheel)
Public and Alternate Transportation
Bus lines and alternate modes of transportation, including bicycles and scooters, are highly encouraged.
Bus Lines
The 44 O’Shaughnessy line stops right on the Music Concourse, with the northbound 44 stopping in front of the California Academy of Sciences, and the southbound 44 stopping in front of the Japanese Tea Garden. Other nearby bus lines include the 5 Fulton, 7 Haight and N Judah. For more information, visit the SFMTA website .
Golden Gate Park Shuttle
Shuttle Operating Hours:
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Every 15 minutes)
Monday through Friday: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Every 20-25 minutes)
Shuttle stops include:
- Haight and Stanyan Street
- McLaren Lodge (Eastbound only; Stanyan & JFK Drive)
- Peacock Meadow (Seasonal/Winters only)
- Tennis Center / Dahlia Dell (Nancy Pelosi Drive & JFK Drive)
- Conservatory of Flowers (Conservatory Drive West & JFK Drive)
- Music Concourse Loop: de Young Museum / Japanese Tea Garden / SF Botanical Gardens (Eastbound only)
- Bandshell All-Accessible Lot / Shakespeare Garden
- Music Concourse Loop: California Academy of Sciences / Skystar Observation Wheel (Eastbound only)
- 10th Avenue / de Young North (JFK near the 10th Avenue entrance)
- Rose Garden (JFK Drive near Park Presidio)
- Stow Lake Boathouse
- Transverse Drive (JFK and Transverse Drive)

Accessible Parking Map:
Music Concourse Garage
The Music Concourse Garage is an 800-space underground parking lot with direct access to the museums. The north entrance is at 10th Ave and Fulton St. The south entrance is on Music Concourse Dr. at Martin Luther King Dr. inside the park. All spaces are within the Music Concourse area. Driving to the Garage:
- From the North: Enter at 10th Ave and Fulton St.
- From the South: Enter at 9th Ave and Lincoln Way, or 19th Ave and Lincoln Way. Follow MLK Dr. to Music Concourse Dr.
- From the East: Enter at Fell St and Stanyan, follow Kezar Dr. to Lincoln Way, then turn right at 9th Ave onto MLK Dr.
Accessible Parking Details
There are designated accessible street parking spots near the Music Concourse and 33 spaces in the garage (within 150 feet of museum entrances).
- Music Concourse Garage: Elevators are available at both levels serving the de Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences.
- Street Parking: Available on Nancy Pelosi Drive, MLK Drive, and the parking lot behind the Bandshell (20 accessible spaces, including 4 van-accessible).
- Fulton Street: Spaces at Park Presidio Blvd, 10th, 8th, and 6th Avenues.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off
Designated areas are located on the Music Concourse loop in front of both museums. The underground garage allows for 15 minutes of free passenger drop-off/pick-up.
Note: Marked paratransit vans are permitted to enter the Music Concourse from 8th Avenue and Fulton.
Accessing the Bandshell Stage Viewing Area
Ramps lead down to the viewing area on both sides of the Music Concourse:
- Across from the southwest corner of the California Academy of Sciences.
- Across and slightly southwest of the main entrance to the de Young Museum.
