Bus lines and alternate modes of transportation, including bicycles and scooters, are highly encouraged.

Bus Lines

The 44 O’Shaughnessy line stops right on the Music Concourse, with the northbound 44 stopping in front of the California Academy of Sciences, and the southbound 44 stopping in front of the Japanese Tea Garden. Music Concourse Garage

The Music Concourse Garage is an 800-space underground parking lot that gives visitors direct access to the Music Concourse and its attractions. The north entrance of the garage is on 10 th Ave. and Fulton St. The south entrance is on Music Concourse Dr. at Martin Luther King Dr. inside the park. All spaces in the garage are within the Music Concourse area with good access to the museums and Japanese Tea Garden. http://goldengateparking.com/

From the north:

  • Enter the north side of the garage at 10 th Ave. and Fulton St.
  • Alternate route A to the south garage entrance: Enter the park at 25th Ave. and Fulton. Stay to the right and take Transverse Dr. Stay on Transverse through the park. Turn left onto MLK Dr., crossing the traffic-light-controlled intersection at Crossover Dr., near 19 th Ave. Continue on MLK Dr., making a left onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • Alternate route B to the south garage entrance: From Stanyan St., turn right into the park at Fell St., onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Turn right onto Music Concourse Dr.

From the south:

  • The south entrance of the Music Concourse Garage can be accessed by entering the park at 9 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, onto MLK Dr. and taking a right onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • The south entrance can also be accessed by entering the park at 19 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, taking an immediate right onto MLK Dr. and then a left onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • The 10 th Ave/Fulton entrance to the garage is often less congested on busy days than the south entrance and can be access by entering the park at 19 th Ave. Continue through the park taking Highway 1 north bearing right. Turn right at Fulton St. Turn right at 10 th Ave. to enter the garage.

From the east:

  • Alternate route A: The 10 th Ave/Fulton entrance to the garage is often less congested on busy days than the south entrance. From Fell St, turn right at Stanyan St. Turn left at Fulton St near the top of the hill.  Follow the north edge of the park along Fulton St. Turn left at 10 th Ave into the park to enter the garage.
  • Alternate route B: Enter the park at Fell St. and Stanyan, onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Turn right onto Music Concourse Dr. This route can become more congested on busy days at 9 th Ave and MLK Dr.
  • Street Parking

Limited street parking is available along the roadways throughout the park. Please note: John F. Kennedy Dr. is currently closed to vehicular traffic from Kezar Dr. to Transverse Dr. In addition, the entrances along Fulton St. at 8 th Ave. and at Arguello Blvd. are also closed.

From the north:

  • Enter the park at 25th Ave. and Fulton. Stay to the right and take Transverse Dr. Stay on Transverse through the park. Turn left onto MLK Dr., crossing the traffic-light-controlled intersection at Crossover Dr., near 19 th Ave. Continue on MLK Dr. and look for parking near the Music Concourse area.
  • Alternatively, from Stanyan St., turn right into the park at Fell St., onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Look for parking near the Music Concourse area.

From the south:

  • Enter the park at 9 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, onto MLK Dr., and look for parking near the Music Concourse area.
  • Alternatively, enter the park at 19 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, taking an immediate right onto MLK Dr. and then looking for parking near the Music Concourse area.

From the east:

  • Enter the park at Fell St. and Stanyan, onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Look for parking near the Music Concourse area.

Accessible Parking

There are accessible street parking spots near the Music Concourse, as well as 33 accessible parking spaces in the Music Concourse Garage. Accessible parking within the garage is the closest to the two museums, less than 150 feet from the entrances.

Accessible parking can be found:

  • In the Music Concourse Garage (see above for driving directions)

  • The DeYoung Museum side has a direct entrance from the upper level of the garage into the museum. Elevators are located at both garage levels. An elevator in museum is near the garage entrance of the museum.

  • The California Academy of Sciences side has an elevator from both garage levels to the surface near the entrance to the museum.

  • Along Nancy Pelosi Drive, on the south side of the Academy of Sciences

  • Along MLK Drive near the Music Concourse

  • In the parking lot behind the Bandshell–20 accessible spaces, including four van-accessible spaces

  • Along Fulton St., at Park Presidio Blvd., 10 th Ave., 8 th Ave. and 6 th Ave.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off (including paratransit, ride shares and taxis)

There are designated pick-up and drop-off areas along the Music Concourse loop in front of the Academy of Sciences and in front of the de Young Museum.  The underground garage, accessible from 10th Avenue and Fulton from the North, or Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Music Concourse Drive from the South, allows for 15 minute free passenger drop off or pick up.

From the north:

  • Route A to the Music Concourse loop: Enter the park at 25th Ave. and Fulton. Stay to the right and take Transverse Dr. Stay on Transverse through the park. Turn left onto MLK Dr., crossing the traffic-light-controlled intersection at Crossover Dr., near 19 th Ave. Continue on MLK Dr., making a left onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • Route B to the Music Concourse loop: From Stanyan St., turn right into the park at Fell St., onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Turn right onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • Note that marked paratransit vans are permitted to enter the Music Concourse from 8th Avenue and Fulton.

From the south:

  • The Music Concourse loop can be accessed by entering the park at 9 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, onto MLK Dr. and taking a right onto Music Concourse Dr.
  • The loop can also be accessed by entering the park at 19 th Ave. and Lincoln Way, taking an immediate right onto MLK Dr. and then a left onto Music Concourse Dr.

From the east:

  • Enter the park at Fell St. and Stanyan, onto JFK/Kezar Dr., which will lead to westbound Lincoln Way. Turn right at 9 th Ave., onto MLK Dr. Turn right onto Music Concourse Dr.

Accessing the Bandshell stage viewing area

There are ramps leading down to the Bandshell stage viewing area on either side of the Music Concourse.

  • Across from the southwest corner of the California Academy of Sciences
  • Across and slightly southwest of the main entrance to the de Young Museum
