Urban Agriculture Resources

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s Urban Agriculture Program provides free materials for the backyard gardener, community gardener, or urban farmer through scheduled giveaway events.

Free Compost : Date & Time : Tuesdays April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, September 8, October 13. Events start when the compost arrives around sunrise and ends at sundown, while supplies last. If there are any leftover, it will be available the following day.

Location : Sunset Circle Parking Lot of Lake Merced (Sunset Boulevard & Lake Merced Boulevard) GOOGLE MAPS and APPLE MAPS

This is a self-serve unstaffed, compost ONLY event. 5-bucket limit per person, no commercial use. There will not be any mulch, seeds plant starts or a Master Gardeners advice table. Please bring your own shovels and containers.
