Park Project Info

The new Maria Manetti Shrem Community Garden at Francisco Park is under construction, with an expected opening in 2021. Due to the anticipation of the high volume of plot requests and our intention of providing equitable access, the initial plot assignments at this garden will be made by lottery.

Registration for the new Maria Manetti Shrem Community Garden lottery is now closed. Forms submitted from this point forward will be added to the waitlist after the lottery is completed on Friday, October 22.

If you have already signed up, there is no need to do so again. RPD will notify lottery participants if they will be offered a plot or their position on the waitlist by email. Following the lottery, all new garden members will be required to attend an orientation meeting to prepare for the new park and garden opening. Please email us at communitygardens@sfgov.org with any questions.

After the lottery deadline:

·        RPD Community Gardens Program staff will randomize the list in order to identify the initial plot assignments and waitlist order.  Anyone who has signed up previously will still be on the list. Duplicate entries will be removed before the lottery is conducted.

·        RPD will notify the lottery participants about the results via email.

·        RPD will assign plots to those selected and provide information to everyone else about their position on the waitlist.

·        All waitlist requests received after the to be announced new lottery closure date will be added to the end of the list in first-come-first-served order.

·        Following the lottery, RPD Community Gardens staff will hold a mandatory orientation meeting for garden members to prepare for the new park and garden opening.
