CLOSED: The St. Mary’s Dog Play Area is currently closed due to increased coyote activity during denning season. Coyotes may exhibit protective behavior near den area. If you encounter a coyote, walk away slowly, carrying any small children or pets to avoid conflict. If a coyote approaches you, haze it or scare it away. Report encounters with aggressive coyotes by calling our Park Rangers at (415) 242-6390.

St. Mary’s Dog Play Area will be closed from December 2 to February 28, 2025, for its annual winter closure. This closure will help the park’s turf to rest and recover ahead of spring 2025.

This hidden gem of a dog play area is sometimes referred to as the putting green for the beautifully manicured lawn on which dogs can romp. This play area is tucked into the third level of a four level complex that features a large recreations center.

Help Keep Our Parks Clean

  • Pick up and remove dog waste
  • Leash your dog(s) in on-leash areas
  • Do not leave your pet unattended
  • Control excessive barking and noise
  • Prevent digging/destructive behavior
  • Keep vaccinations and licenses current
  • Dog walkers welcome; Please limit the number of dogs under your care to eight
